In the search for design and inspiration on the Internet I recently discovered a small website. The website is called “Adventures of Kyle” and is the work of http://kevinvanlierop.com/.

Here’s the description from the website:

Adventures of Kyle is a month long photo project that documents the explorations of Kyle Broflovski, one of the main South Park characters.

Kyle will be traveling around for the month of November 2009 with Kevin Van Lierop. As Kyle encounters the world Kevin will be documenting it through imagery.

From 3 day binge drinking, to trying to make some money by becoming a local transit operator, Kyle will be getting into as much trouble as un-humanly possible for a 99¢ stuffed figurine.

Adventures of Kyle is Kevin Van Lierop’s attempt at the first ever Nation Photo Book Month (NaPhoBoMo). Stay tuned to NaPhoBoMo and Kevin’s Blog for updates on the Adventures of Kyle.

Too lazy to upgrade to Windows 7

I’m always a sucker for new software and I want to try everything thats being released. I did try Windows 7 when it still were in Release Candidate-state and I really liked it. At the moment I run Vista Business with SP2 and for me it works great. I’ve never shared the crtiticism of Vista like so many others. Maybe thats why I’m too lazy to move to W7. I like the look and feel of W7 but I can’t see any reason for me to upgrade, not even due to performance. I will definitely end up with W7 at some time. But for now, I’m sticking with Vista.

Windows Live Writer as a desktop publishing application

WLW is a true WYSIWYG blog application from Microsoft which works with most blog platforms, including the much used Wordpress, obviously. Personally I’ve always used Wordpress’ web interface when writing posts on my blog but with WLW I don’t have to worry about my browser crashing or loosing the Internet connection. I’ve jst begun using it, but so far so good. It seems very intuitive and easy to use which is great.

Sony and FIFA to show 2010 World Cup in 3D

Before you get too excited I should mention that it’s not for everyone. Only seven countries will have the honour and it will only be up to 25 matches. However, people who lives in other countries can take comfort in that Sony will release a 3D Blu-Ray disk.

The countries where the matches will be shown in 3D are the following: Berlin, London, Mexico City, Paris, Rio De Janeiro, Rome, and Sydney.

Google experiments with new design

The end of the World seems more likely than Google changing their design on their website. However, it did happen but it’s not official yet. As you can read in this post Google has already made som changes but now they can’t seem to stop. If you want to see the new design go to www.google.com and type the following in the address bar:

Hit enter end then F5 to update the site.

This will only work on Google.com and not the local regional search sites. The design change is not revolutionary but it shouldn’t. The to buttons below the search field are blue with white text and the logo has been “flattened” and the shadows are removed.

Google website simplified, is it even possible

The Google website has always been very simple and minimalistic. Now they’ve made it even more simple but is it even possible? Apparently it is… If you go to www.google.com (don’t touch anything, not even the mouse), you’ll see that it’s been made more simple. If you then move the mouse around you’ll see Google as you know (knew) it.

The eternal search for amazing design continues

I’ve always been fascinated by good design. I’ve spend hours looking for inspiration, adjusting a certain design to perfection and I’ve changed design several times within one week. It bothers me that I can’t seem to settle down on one design and just go with that. I’m constantly in search for better design and I don’t know why. Maybe I get bored with a design too quickly, maybe I just want constant change.

Great design for me a several things. First of all it has to appeal to me. But for me, great design can be very graphics-oriented or very simplistic. Careful use of good typefaces can be all a design needs and thats why, I think, the current design on my blog will stay for a while. Now, I want to make sure that people knows that I haven’t made this design. It’s a free-to-use design made for Wordpress and it’s created by Ashley Morgan from Upstart Blogger. People may tell me I shouldn’t be using another mans design although it’s free. On the contrary I can’t see why. This particular design, called Genesis Red, will definitely stay on for a while, but no one know for how long, as I’m continuing my search for the perfect design.
